The CEO of GATX Rail Europe announced today that it has issued a sizable multiyear order for new built tank cars to a Bulgarian supplier. The order secures the supply of standard tank cars for light/medium density petroleum products as well as insulated tank cars for the transport of high density/heavy petroleum products. All ordered new tank cars permit a maximum axle load of 22,5 tons.

This Multiyear Order Program executes one step in a major new car sourcing program for GATX in Europe to meet the continuing demand for new tank cars from its core customer base.

GATX is the Entity in Charge of Maintenance (ECM) for all wagons of that GATX is either the holder and/or the owner and has received an ECM Certificate, available on ERA website ERA ECM Certificates.
With the revision of the Directive on Railway Safety in Europe, the EU introduced the term "Entity in Charge of Maintenance" in 2008. This "Entity in Charge of Maintenance" must ensure that all wagons assigned to it in the national vehicle registers are serviced in accordance with the regulations in force.

GATX RAIL EUROPE ANNOUNCES ENTRY INTO TURKISH MARKETPLACE
CHICAGO, (April 18th, 2011) - GATX Rail Europe today announced its entry into the Turkish marketplace with the deployment of newly-manufactured railway tank wagons. These state-of-the-art, 95 cubic meter wagons, designed to efficiently carry a variety of petroleum products, are being manufactured for GATX in Turkey by R.A.I.L. Tur, Kayseri.
BP Turkey will utilize these wagons to move their refined products on the network of the Turkish Railway TCDD. GATX has arranged for TRANSTUR in Kayseri to provide management of the rail wagons’ logistical operations.
